Awards and Prizes
Over the past, there have been various awards and prizes available to members of the local IEEE SA Section, as well as through other IEEE organisational units (e.g. Region 10, IEEE HQ, Student Branches). For guidelines on the current prizes, please see IEEE AC Outstanding Volunteer Award V02.

IEEE SA Section Outstanding Volunteer Award
The IEEE SA Section established a Distinguished Service Award in 1999. This is now known as the Outstanding Volunteer award and is intended to recognise and acknowledge exceptionally meritorious service to the profession of electrical and electronics engineering in South Australia and in particular to the activities and objectives of IEEE South Australia Section.
Nominations are called for each year, and an Awards sub-committee established by the Section Committee evaluates nominations and selects one or more recipients.

IEEE SA Section Outstanding Young Professional Volunteer Award
This award, supported by IEEE South Australia Section, is given to recognize extraordinary achievements by a member of the IEEE South Australia Section aged 35 or less, who is engaged in activities conforming to IEEE objectives and purposes.

IEEE SA Section Outstanding Women in Engineering Volunteer Award
This is a new award in 2022.
IEEE SA Section Outstanding Student Volunteer Award
This award, supported by IEEE South Australia Section, is given to recognize extraordinary achievements by a student member engaged in activities conforming to IEEE objectives and purposes.

IEEE Student Award for Excellence in Engineering and Electronics
Each year the IEEE SA Section presents an award to a student at each of the three South Australian universities for the best achievement in electrical and electronic courses. The students are nominated by the University, and the awardees receive a certificate and a cash prize of $500.

The IEEE SA Section was awarded the 2004 IEEE Region 10 Distinguished Small Section Award.
RAB Outstanding Small Section Award
The IEEE SA Section was awarded the 2003 IEEE Regional Activities Board Outstanding Small Section Award. This is awarded to a single Section throughout the world that demonstrates excellent work in the past year and has less than 500 members.
