e-KITES | EdSoc-Kerala Integrated Training for Engineering Students
IEEE Education Society (EdSoc) Kerala Chapter organized a two-day offline hands-on training program, EdSoc-Kerala Integrated Training for Engineering Students (e-KITES), at LEAD College of Management, Palakkad from 24th November to 27th November in association with Out of the Box Academy (OFB). The program was organized with a specific objective to help the selected engineering students to upskill and enrich their technical expertise. Through this program, IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter aimed to provide the foundation for engineering students in the in-demand domains of the industry.
The program was framed to provide training for around 200 students across Kerala in two batches each housing around 100 students. The travel, food, and accommodation facilities for the participants were provided at the institute by the IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter. All the classes were conducted at the institution, strictly adhering to the Covid protocol and other Government restrictions.
As a kickstart into the program, the registration was opened on 24th November 2021. All Engineering Students from colleges across Kerala were eligible to apply for this program. Participants from more than 43 colleges responded to the registration call. After the successful registration of 206 students, the registration portal was closed officially on 13th December 2021. Following that, instructions were passed onto the selected students with a detailed description of the covid protocols to be maintained while attending the program.
On 24th December 2021, the program was inaugurated officially through a hybrid ceremony at LEAD College of Management, Palakkad. The ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Thomas George K, Chairman of LEAD College of Management, Mr. Sabarinath K, CEO of Out of the Box Academy, Er. Jithin Krishnan, Secretary of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter, and Mr. Sarath S, Student Activities Chair of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter. Er. Varughese CM, Chair of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter, and Prof. Muhammed Kasim S, Vice-Chair, IEEE Kerala Section & Founder Chair, IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter joined the ceremony virtually to shower their blessings. The event was officially inaugurated by Prof. Muhammed Kasim S and later Thomas George, the director of LEAD College addressed the gathering about the campus and its culture.
Following the inauguration, the training program for the first batch began on 24th December 2021. Parallel workshops were organized in Web Development & PCB Designing and in App Development & Python Programming on Day 1 under the initiative of OFB Academy. Along with the sessions, a cultural session was organized for the participants to engage them in all manner. Similar to Day 1, parallel workshops were organized in Robotics Basics & Design Thinking on Day 2. With those sessions on Day 2, the training program for the first batch was wrapped up. As a farewell, a closing ceremony was arranged along with a photograph session.
On the morning of 26th December 2021, the enrolling for batch 2 was started at LEAD College of Management, Palakkad. The same programs were continued in the second batch, including the parallel workshops in Web Development & PCB Designing, in App Development & Python Programming, and in Robotics Basics & Design Thinking. As an addon to the general agenda for the program, an interactive talk session was arranged with the DIrector of the Lead College of Management, Dr. Thomas George K. Through his engaging session, Dr. Thomas George inspired young promising minds to make their dreams into reality. Along with that, an engaging session by Mr. Sreenath on Campus to Corporate was organized. All together, IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter successfully coordinated the training program in association with OFB Academy.
