With a vision to begin a technical revolution, the IEEE Education Society (EdSoc) Kerala Chapter organized a technical enhancement program, Rural Student Technical Enhancement Program (R-STEP) for the Higher Secondary Students across Kerala. R-STEP was a free innovative advanced technical training session for the higher secondary students in the rural outskirts of Kerala. The specific objective of this event was to provide the underprivileged student sections with the necessary training to kickstart their career in their dream domains. Through R-STEP, IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter provided free of cost hands-on training sessions in C Programming, Arduino, Internet of Things (IoT), and Web Development. With the help of this initiative, the participants were able to achieve early technical expertise in the in-demand skills of the industry. This helped each student to enhance his or her technical skills and make up a fruitful project with the support and help of mentors provided

R-STEP has been a successful initiative in all ways. The achievements that the IEEE Education Society Kerala Chapter has secured with this initiative will stay as the stepping stone of inspiration for more such events. The event has gained regional as well as sectional recognition in terms of quality and output. It has brought out new expectations and new possibilities that were once impossible to attain. Even amid the pandemic, IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter ensured that the program was carried out in the most efficient manner through thorough evaluations. All the strategic approaches have resulted in the successful execution of this new learning initiative.
