Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology (KFUEIT), Rahim Yar Khan Student Branch 

Rahim Yar Khan, the vibrant and growing city of Southern Punjab, is strategically located at the tripod of three provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan. This city attracts people of 200 km radius for their business, trade, health and education related needs. Since many years the need of some premium higher education institution in this city was being felt and the students were bound to travel to Bahawalpur, Multan or even Lahore to pursue their higher education aspirations.In these bigger cities, they get exposed to the toughest competition for admissions against limited seat in their areas of interest. Therefore, the establishment of an Engineering University in the city was nothing lesser than the blessing for regionand city of Rahim Yar Khan.
Planning & Development Board Punjab approveda PC-1 of 3,847 million for establishment ofuniversity. World-renowned engineering firm M/s NESPAK (National Engineering Services of Pakistan) was engaged as Consultants for engineering designand resident engineering supervision for Campus Construction. Later the Government of Punjab granted more land on University request making total land occupied by the University to 275 acres.
The Punjab Assembly passed the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology Rahim Yar Khan Act (Act XVI of 2014) on 29 May 2014,to provide the legal foundations and framework for the University. Classes were started in four rented classrooms of the Government College of Technology, Shehbaz Pur Road, some 18 kms away from the actual campus site on 01 September 2014 for a batch of 200 students equally divided in thefour disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology.
The first duly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob,Tamgha-e-Imtiaz joined on September 2, 2015.
Dr. Athar Mahboob started fast track execution ofthe project by shifting classes and administration to University’s own campus on Abu Dhabi Road in few renovated buildings. After due process of PPRA regulations, several contracts for construction of buildings and infrastructure development wereawarded, whereas the remaining contracts arein the process of being awarded.
First and 2nd meetings of the duly constituted Syndicate of the University were held on May 19, 2016 and 22nd March, 2017 respectively. The Syndicate while approving the Annual Report and the Budget Estimates expressed its satisfaction over the rapid progress of the University under the able leadership of its Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob (TI) and assured of its fullest cooperation and support. Saturday, 5th May 2018 was the big day for the University when Mr. Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif (CM Punjab) formally inaugurated the University in a grand ceremony, giving reality to his brain child project.
IEEE KFUEIT Student Branch was established in 2017. Muhammad Hamza Latif was its founding chair. IEEE KFUEIT is the first and only student branch of Rahim Yar Khan. It has the honour to hosting the 2nd episode of BSSYW Congress. Student Delegations of IEEE KFUEIT represented the IEEE fraternity of Rahim Yar Khan in PSYWC’17 and PSYWC’18 in Lahore and Islamabad Respectively.
