Awards

The IEEE Queensland section initiates following awards to recognize the contribution from the section
members.
1. IEEE QLD outstanding Young Professional
2. IEEE QLD outstanding Women in Engineering
3. IEEE QLD outstanding Student Volunteer

Eligibility

The award is open to active IEEE members living in QLD. A member can not be nominated if he/she
has received the award in the same category in the previous three years.

 A Young Professional is defined by the IEEE as someone who has graduated from their first
professional degree within the past 15 years.
 The Women in Engineering award is open to WIE affinity group members and members that
have contributed to advancing the WIE professional environment at large. This award is not
gender specific.
 A student is identified as a member with an IEEE student or graduate student membership.

 

Nomination

Nomination process must be completed before 31st of October each year. Nomination must be made
by an IEEE member. Self-nomination will not be accepted.
Submissions
A nomination letter clearly highlighting the contribution of the nominee in the respectively category
should be emailed to the current QLD Awards and Recognition Chair with a copy to the QLD section
chair. A nomination letter should include nominee’s contribution over the last three years specifically
demonstrating
how nominee has inspired, engaged, encouraged and empowered other members
leadership ability and uniqueness of approach in organising and supporting section activities
impact of activates over the society

Judging Process

The QLD section committee will form a committee of at least three members to server on the judging
panel. An award may not be awarded in a particular year if no suitable nominations are received.
Prizes
The winner of each award will be presented with a plaque at the Annual Awards Dinners. The winners
of each category will be nominated by the Section to the respective Region 10 and Australia Council
awards in the following year on the condition that the winners meet the relevant award
criteria/guidelines.
