IEEE Queensland Section

The IEEE Queensland Section was established in 1985 and currently has about 1000 members (Worldwide, the IEEE has over 400,000 members in more than 160 countries). The Queensland Section has a proud tradition of volunteer service to the community of technology professionals. Queensland Section is now calling for nominations for officers and members of the IEEE Queensland Section executive committee in 2024. A full list of current committee members can be obtained from the website.

According to the IEEE MGA manual, that governs our Section, all elected offices and other positions on the executive committee will become vacant on 31st of December each year. Therefore, Queensland section is calling for nominations for the elected offices outlined in the table at the end of this e-notice.

Eligibility:

To be eligible,

IEEE Membership must be current (membership dues must be paid) upon entering office, and must be maintained throughout term of office;
Graduate Student Member, Member, Senior Member, or Fellow grade;
membership in the geographic unit in which office is to be held;
Chapter officers, in addition to the above requirements, must also have and maintain membership in the Chapter’s Society. In the case of Joint Chapters, membership in any (1) of the Societies is sufficient;
the volunteer shall not have served in any one position, in any single organizational unit, more than six years total, and no more than four years consecutively.
IEEE Queensland section always encourage and welcome members to join the committee. However, the nominee should have reasonable experience to conduct the expected duties.

Term:
The new committee would serve for one year from 1st of January until 31st of December 2024.

Expressions of interest need to be sent to the chairs of the nomination committee for the corresponding position by 30 October 2023.

The Nominating Committee will then prepare a list of candidates for election by Section/Society members (if necessary) in accordance with IEEE by-laws. The election results will be announced at the Section’s Annual General Meeting to be held on Nov 24th at BCEC, 4:30pm-5:30pm.
