The joint Chapter of Power & Energy Society and Industry Applications Society started in Delhi with Prof. B. Prasad Singh, SMIEEE of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as its interim Chairman on June 12, 1997. Subsequently in the AGM of September 21, 1997 under the leadership of Prof. Singh an EXECOM of 10 Members assumed the office. In the year 2000 Chapter received PES Outstanding Chapter Award (Small) and in 2003, 2006, and 2013 PES Outstanding Chapter Award (Large), while in 2009 Outstanding Large Joint Chapter Award from IAS. In 2001 its Founder-Chairman Prof. Singh received the first Regional Outstanding Engineer Award. This award in the year 2002 was also won by Delhi‘s Dr. Subrata Mukhopadhyay. It has a large number of activities in the year 2024.
