Abstract— The integration of Distributed Generation (DG) into power systems has become increasingly important for power system planning and market operations. This paper proposes a novel Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm-based approach for determining the optimal placement and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) units in a distribution network to minimize power losses and improve voltage stability. The GWO-based approach is formulated as a multi-objective optimization problem that simultaneously minimizes power loss and improves the voltage profile of the distribution network. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested on an IEEE 33-bus distribution network and a practical 33 kV 59-bus Galyang Feeder of Pyuthan District, Nepal. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach effectively reduces power loss and improves the voltage profile of the network. The GWO algorithm outperforms other conventional optimization techniques in terms of convergence speed and solution quality, making it an effective tool for distribution system operators to improve the efficiency and stability of power systems. Overall, the proposed approach provides an effective tool for determining the optimal placement and sizing of DG units in a distribution network, leading to a more efficient and stable power system.
