Abstract— The daily use of electricity is increasing with the adaptation of new technology and its advancement along with a change in daily lifecycle status. So the utility gets in challenges to meet the high demand with limited supply for the limited time period. So the integration of distributed generation (DG) becomes advantageous for utility to have continuous and reliable supply for consumers to meet the high demand. Despites having benefits for utility and consumers mainly in improving the distribution system reliability and security by DG integration, there are challenges encountered from a protection system perspective. While using DG, power system operation, control, and protection must be updated to cope with changes in the power system due to changes in the power flow. It is, however, much more difficult to exploit and necessitates more thought in terms of power system planning and transmission and distribution system operation. The impact encountered by the DG integration should be notified and solved accordingly. In this paper, a simulation case study is done to view the impact of DG on protection systems, and its effect on the time of operation is manipulated to have good coordination between the overcurrent relay protection devices.
