Abstract—Distribution system is at the proximity to the electrical consumers and supplies the energy at desirable voltage level. In this lower voltage system, the higher loading and longer radial length are major causes of loss. In this paper, three natures of feeders based on loading and length are taken and optimizations on capacitor placement, DG placement and conductor reinforcement are performed. Based on the technical analysis, the placement of capacitor yielded minimum loss for highly loaded feeder whereas placement of DG was effective for the other nature of feeders. Thereafter, the financial indicators suggest that placement of capacitor is suitable for the highly loaded feeder whereas, conductor upgradation is viable for other cases due to the high investment and O&M cost of diesel generator.
