Abstract— The power system network has become complicated due to an increase in electricity consumption, population growth, and industrial development, and hence the transmission line experiences continuous increment of loading level. Uncontrolled power flow in the transmission line is not preferred. For the controlled power flow, Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) technologies are generally used. It is beneficial for enhancing transmission line capacity, ensuring power system security and stability during faults and outages. In addition to these, FACTS devices as load flow controller (LFC) can be advantageous for the power system with high wind power injection. This paper examines the sensitive branches of the network with the penetration of wind power. The power system network in the western region of the Integrated Nepal Power System (INPS) has been considered for this analysis. The wind turbine’s capacity has been selected based on a small-signal analysis approach. Moreover, the weak bus for the real system has been determined using Continuity Power Flow (CPF). This study identifies the overloading line, and placement of Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) FACT device to significantly controls the current limit on these sensitive lines.
