The IEEE Education Society Kerala Chapter organized UNARV at Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Angamaly, on 23 February 2024. The event, which ran from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, witnessed the participation of 14 attendees eager to engage in insightful discussions and activities related to engineering education.
The IEEE Education Society (EdSoc) event commenced at 10:00 AM with a formal inauguration, graced by dignitaries including Mookanur, Panchayath President, Kshemakarya Committee Chairperson, Vice Principal of FISAT, and other notable guests. Following the inauguration, Dr Elavarassi P. Jayakanth, CEO of Aswathy Hot Chips and Bake, shared her entrepreneurial journey. She emphasized the significance of hard work, resilience, and overcoming setbacks, offering valuable lessons in business development. Her motivational talk was followed by an interactive Q&A session where participants sought practical advice, which was met with enthusiasm.
At 1:00 PM, lunch was provided, after which an idea pitching competition took place. Participants, divided into groups of four, brainstormed their innovative ideas for 15 minutes. Each group then had 3 minutes to present their concepts to a panel of two judges from FISAT. The competition encouraged creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking, with valuable feedback offered to the teams.
The afternoon session featured a workshop on digital literacy by Ms Anjali Harish (WIE Coordinator, IEEE EdSoc) and Ms Hazna R. Muhammed (Past MDC-Kochi Hub, IEEE EdSoc KC). The workshop covered online safety, smartphone usage, and tools like ChatGPT for security and productivity. The interactive session helped participants enhance their understanding of digital tools, fostering greater engagement and interest in digital literacy.
The event concluded with interactive games and a session encouraging camaraderie among participants.
