IEEE Day Celebration 2021

IEEE Education Society (EdSoc) Kerala Chapter organized a virtual ceremony to celebrate IEEE Day 2021, on October 5, 2021, from 5.00 PM to 6.30 PM IST. The main agenda of the event was to celebrate IEEE Day by honoring the prominent members within the organization and to hold a distinguished talk on the topic ‘Role of Energy Management during Pandemic’. The special guests of the day were the four most senior Chairs of IEEE Kerala Section, Dr. Gomathy K, Mr. N T Nair, Prof V K Damodaran, and Mr. A G Hareendralal and the National Award Winner, Dr. Chimoy Saha. The event took place in the presence of prominent members like Dr. Sameer S M, Secretary of IEEE R10, Mrs. Sarada Jayakrishnan, Chair of IEEE Kerala Section, Er. A K Suhair, Chair of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter, and more.

To commence the event, Prof. Gayathri cordially invited Dr. K Kesavswamy, Advisor of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter for a pledge on the IEEE Code of Ethics. He took the honor and set the tone for the event by presenting the Code of Ethics.

Following that, she invited Er. CM Varughese, Chair of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter to address everyone with a welcome note. Er. CM Varughese graciously accepted the invitation and came forward. On behalf of the EdSoc Kerala Chapter, he welcomed all the honored guests who had gathered for the ceremony.

After the welcome note, Prof. Gayathri invited Dr. Leesha Paul, Vice-Chair of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter for a brief note about the IEEE Day. Accepting the invitation, Dr. Leesha came forward. With a brief insight into the history of IEEE, she began her note. In her address, she gave a glance into the ideology behind IEEE Day, mentioning its objectives and vision.

Following that, Prof. Gayathri took the event to its main agenda. To set the beginning into the honoring ceremony she cordially invited Prof. Muhammed Kasim, Founder Chair of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter. In response to the invitation, Prof. Kasim came forward to honor Dr. Gomathy K. In the note followed, Prof. Kasim gave a wonderful speech about his former teacher, Dr. Gomathy. With a brief insight into the achievements of Dr. Gomathy, Prof. Kasim honored her for her outstanding contributions. In recognition of her exemplary achievements, she was presented with a virtual memento. In response to that, Dr. Gomathy came forward and gladly accepted it with a thanking note. In her note, she mentioned the impacts that IEEE has brought down into her life and thanked everyone for the memento and love.

Right after that, Prof. Gayathri invited Er. Aju Thomas from the Professional Team for honoring the next delegate, Er. NT Nair. Er. Aju came forward to carry out his duty of honoring the respected delegate. With a brief profile of Er. NT Nair, Er. Aju honored him for his generous contributions to the organization. In recognition of this, Er. NT Nair was then presented with a virtual memento. In response to that, Er. NT Nair came forward and accepted the memento. He thanked the IEEE Education Society for the generous token.

Followed by that, Prof. Gayathri cordially invited Dr. M V Rajesh, Vice-Chair of IEEE Kochi Subsection to honor Prof. VK Damodaran. Accepting the invitation, Dr. Rajesh came forward giving a note of the achievements and contributions of Prof. Damodaran. In recognition of his services, a virtual memento was then presented to Prof. VK Damodaran, on behalf of the IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter. Accepting the memento, Prof. Damodaran thanked everyone with a brief note of his memories in IEEE.

After that,  Prof. Gayathri heartfully invited Er. , Secretary of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter to honor the respected dignitary, Er. Hareendralal A G. In response to that, Er. Jithin came forward, giving a brief note about Er. Hareendralal. With that note, Er. Jithin honored him for his exemplary services for the betterment of the community. In recognition of this, Er. Hareendralal was then presented with a virtual memento. Thanking everyone for the token, Er. Hareendralal accepted it with a brief note.

Subsequent to that, Prof. Gayathri invited Dr. Rajesh Abraham from the Professional Team to honor the respected delegate, Dr. Chimoy Saha. In response to the invitation, Dr. Rajesh came forward and honored Dr. Chimoy Saha with a note of his achievements. In recognition of his services, a virtual memento was then presented to Dr. Chimoy Saha. Accepting the memento, Dr. Chimoy Saha thanked everyone for the token and addressed the attendees with a brief note.

Following that, a virtual photograph of the event was taken as a souvenir of the auspicious moment with the prominent delegates from IEEE.

Further, to make the event more fruitful, a distinguished talk was organized on the topic ‘Role of Energy Management during Pandemic’. To carry the event forward with the talk, Prof. Gayathri invited the respected resource person. Er. Dharesan Unnithan, Sr. Member of IEEE and Director (Retd) of  EMC, Kerala. Accepting the invitation, Er. Dharesan came forward, thanking everyone for the opportunity.

Er. Dharesan commenced his talk pointing out the importance of energy management during this period of the pandemic. In the talk followed, Er. Dharesan gave an insight into the various methodologies that can be used for ensuring the management of energy with respect to its scope and limitations. After the talk, the session was then opened for queries. In response to that, a couple of doubts were raised. Er. Dharesan addressed all the queries with detailed explanations.

Thanking Er. Dharesan for his engaging and informative talk, a virtual memento was presented, on behalf of the IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter.

Following that, Prof. Gayathri invited Dr. Sameer S M, Secretary of IEEE R10 for the felicitation. In response to that, Dr. Sameer came forward with a note. In his address, he expressed his regards to all the attendees on the occasion of IEEE Day and pointed out the significance of IEEE.

Thanking Dr. Sameer for his engaging note, Prof. Gayathri invited Mrs. Sarada Jayakrishnan, Chair of IEEE Kerala Section. In response to that, Mrs. Sarada came forward and expressed her regards on the occasion.

Thanking Mrs. Sarada for her felicitation, Prof Gayathri invited Er. A K Suhair, Chair of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter for a note from his behalf. Accepting the invitation, Er. A K Suhair came forward and expressed his felicitation regarding the momentous occasion.

Soon after that, Prof. Gayathri thanked Er. A K Suhair for his presence and talk. With the event reaching its conclusion, Prof. Gayathri then invited Er. NP Subheesh from the Professional Team to present the vote of thanks. On behalf of the Education Society Kerala Chapter, Er. Subheesh expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries who were present all through the event even in the middle of busy schedules. He also thanked all the attendees for their constant support. With that, the event concluded.
