The fourth episode of Protalks series was held on the 27th of June,2024 at 8:00 pm on Google meet. The speaker was Dr.K Kesavasamy, Ex-TCS & Ex-ISRO employee, and also them Advisor of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter. The session was on “Professional Values” aligning to ethical work and applying it for practical use.
Chaithanya S, started the event as the anchor and the welcoming address was done by Miss Diya Jose. Then Dr. K Kesavasamy took over the meeting and started discussing the Professional values from TCS which included Learning, Integrity, Respect for Individual, Excellence and Leading changes, while telling these he mapped the values with the IEEE code of ethics saying that IEEE code of ethics where more elaborated versions of the values and also, explained these values with life examples of F.C Kohli whom taught us about to not stop learning and is a lifelong process, Dr. Geetha Varadan who led a life of excellence to
reach the first women director of ISRO, JRD Tata and his quote “ If you want excellence, you must aim at perfection”, and also Jamshedji Tata who refused to give up even after the Britisher telling “India cannot make steel” but with Jamshedji Tata and his vision, bought along major changes in the mining industry.
After telling about the main values of TCS, Dr. K Kesavasamy talked about the other values which are present in IEEE code of ethics, which are implicit in TCS but explicit in other organizations and at last he talked about the values which are needed not written anywhere but wholly accepted in our day to day life which included Punctuality, Ownership responsibility, and Proper communications.
The session concluded with an interactive question and answer session with the speaker. Which was followed by a vote of thanks by Er. Prabin James and giving a heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kesavasamy, by providing a momento by Tinoj Thomas. Thereby, concluding, yet another episode of ProTalks series.
