Young Telecom & IT innovator Social Innovation Camp is hosted by Telecommunication Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, with financial funding from Broadcasting and Telecommunications Research and Development Fund for Public Interest (BTFP), Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

The goal is to equip 160 high school students and 160 college students in the upper north region of Thailand with the telecommunication system knowledge, skills and attitude to employ technology to solve problems in their community.

The activities are separated into the following three phases:
1. The training camp on  innovation development through the use of digital technology and communication on 5 March – 7 May 2022 . Total  of  465 students from three provinces, namely Phayao, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai, participated in this activity, with 217 young in upper secondary school and 248 youth in higher education

2. The selection of twelve unique concepts that fulfill the requirements of the community and make appropriate use of technology. The finalist teams receive funding for further development and community implementation.

3. Young Telecom and IT Innovator Social Innovation Day features twelve finalist presentations. Regarding the technical and social impact on the community, the panel of experts addressed questions and provided advise. The popular vote was determined by the audience’s score, which took into account the investment’s effectiveness in encouraging innovation.
