We IEEE Power and Energy Society Sri Lanka Chapter is inviting you to the residential workshop on professional solar PV installations, on 31st May and 1st June 2024, at the newly commissioned  Agrivoltaic pilot project in Hanthana, Kandy. Limited seats are available and only selected participants will be invited for the workshop.  Accommodation and meals will be provided for those who secures a spot for the workshop. However, transport will NOT be provided. All undergraduates, graduate students, academia and professionals are invited to register for this workshop to enhance the knowledge on solar PV installations with hands-on experience.

You’ll walk away more aware to train yourself to be relevant and successful in today’s workplace. Speaker: Mr. Bala Prasanna, Director, IEEE Region 1 Mr. Bala Prasanna’s professional career of over 35 years includes working in institutions like SUNY-State University of New York, AT&T and IBM in various roles in senior technical and management positions. He volunteers his time at IEEE- Region 1 as a board member. He has also served as a board member at IEEE-USA during 2016-17. Mr. Prasanna is proud to be a member of IEEE HKN Honor Society . He cherishes his time talking to students and career professionals specifically on the importance of career management skills and technology frontiers. As IEEE national speaker, he has spoken at various US and international universities and colleges on career management skills to survive and thrive in today’s workplace. His passions are photography, reading biographies and meeting people of accomplishment. Mr. Bala Prasanna is currently serving as IEEE Region 1 Director for 2024-25 term. Bala is also involved in IEEE MOVE and IEEE HKN programs.

Webinar on Revolutionizing Agriculture by Robotics and Automation

IEEE PES Sri Lanka Chapter, IEEE IES Sri Lanka Chapter, and IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Chapter invites you to the Webinar on Revolutionizing Agriculture by Robotics and Automation Speaker: Dr. Thavida Maneewarn is currently the Founder and Director of Raina Robotech Co. Ltd., a company founded in 2022 that focuses on research & development in agricultural and field robotics. She is also the Director of Yannix co. ltd. since November 2018. She received a master’s and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (control & robotics ) from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. She returned to Thailand after graduation in 2000. Dr. Thavida began her career as a researcher at the Institute of Field Robotics, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi where she was promoted as Deputy Director of Research from 2003 to 2014. Dr. Thavida was formerly the President of the Thai Robotics Society and the IEEE RAS-Thailand Chapter Chair (Robotic and Automation Society) which has the mission to promote knowledge and interests in automation and robotics to the young generation in Thailand. From 2007 – 2010, she was also the Director of I/UCRC HDD Advanced Manufacturing at KMUTT which is a collaborative center between the university and hard disk drives industries in Thailand. Throughout her career, she has applied robotics technology to many real-world applications. At Yannix, computer vision technology is used for reconstructing 3D information about camera motion and environment for movie production. This same technology can be used for constructing a map of an environment for mobile robot applications. In the past twenty years, Dr. Thavida has introduced robotic solutions for solving many problems in Thailand, for example, a boiler inspection robot, semi-humanoid robots that work in museums and universities etc.
