Welcome to the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Sri Lanka Chapter!
The Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) is a vibrant community of researchers, engineers, and stakeholders dedicated to advancing science and technology in geoscience, remote sensing, and related fields.
As a professional and learned society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), GRSS uniquely blends engineering and scientific disciplines, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to remote sensing and Earth observation. Our members, from diverse backgrounds such as geophysics, geology, hydrology, and meteorology, contribute to and benefit from the design, development, and dissemination of innovative hardware and data processing techniques.
Mission Statement
We aim to promote active partnerships and build a strong network among universities, industries, and government agencies in Sri Lanka. We strive to raise awareness of the critical importance of remote sensing and its applications by organizing various meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences that showcase the latest best practices in the field. Through these initiatives, the Sri Lankan GRSS Chapter aims to significantly increase its membership and expand its diverse activities and collaborations, thereby advancing remote sensing technology and its wide range of applications.
Field of Interest
The GRSS focuses on the theories, concepts, and engineering techniques relevant to the remote sensing of the Earth, oceans, atmosphere, and space. This includes the processing, interpretation, and dissemination of the gathered information.
