IEEE Education Society (EdSoc) Kerala Chapter organized a panel discussion on the topic ‘Career in Industry vs Academia’ on Saturday, 14th May 2022 at 8:00 PM IST. The session was moderated by Mr. Eldho Babu, Electronic Communication Coordinator of IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter and the panelists for the session were Dr. Sandeep Kaul Kuttal, Assistant Professor at the University of Tulsa, and Ms. Neetu Jain, Director of Project Management at Thomson Reuters, Dallas. The objectives of the session were to improvise the perspectives and notions on career outlooks in industry and academia from the insights of the accomplished and to provide insight into the various career opportunities in the industry and academia

During the discussion, each panelist shared their experiences in industry and academics, as well as the advantages of each sector. They gave an overview of the potential and difficulties that each sector has to offer, as well as how these fields can be used to build a career. Overall, the program assisted participants in distinguishing the career structure in each profession and picking the best path for them. Unlike other career advising seminars, this panel discussion provided attendees with a thorough overview of industry and academic activities and occupations.

Through the session, IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the career possibilities in industry and academia. Also, the chapter provided the attendees with a chance to benefit from the expertise of industry and academic professionals and improved their perceptions about job prospects in industry and academics
