IEEE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MUET

Mehran University IEEE student chapter in collaboration with IEEE Karachi section celebrated “IEEE Day” on 7th October 2015 in MUET’s Main Auditorium from 09:00am to 05:00pm. The chief guest of the event Engr. Syed Asif Hyder Shah, commissioner Hyderabad and a MUET alumnus expressed immense pleasure and pride to be a part of such a symbolic event. The Vice Chancellor of MUET Dr. M. A. Uqail, Dr.Aslam Chowdhry from The University of Utah and Dr. TauhaHussain Ali, registrar MUET were the Guests of honour at the event. IEEE Day is celebrated every year in the first week of October and this time most fortunately team IMMUET along with IEEE MUET chapter focal persons celebrated it with full zeal by decorating the auditorium in IEEE colors followed by a cake cutting ceremony. The chief guest also addressed the gathering and shared his views and ideas for a prosperous MUET.

The IEEE Day event comprised of several technical and non-technical competitions enough to accommodate students carrying diversified interests. Students showed a splendid response towards the event as the team earmarked 40 volunteers, 500+ participants.

The IEEE Day event encrusted following segments:

  • Cake cutting ceremony
  • My Vision Of MUET (Poster Competition)
  • Techno-Mania (Project Competition)
  • Scientific Appearance (Technical Presentation). Organized by IMS (Instrumentation and Measurement Society) IEEE.
  • IQ-Knockout (Mind Quiz)
  • Playing Geeks (Gaming Competition)
  • Acting Souls (Skit Competition)
  • Videography Competition
  • Speaking Session
  • Stalls

 

Competitions like Playing Geeks, Scientific Appearance, Techno- Mania and My Vision Of MUET, IQ-Knockout took place in a parallel fashion in Electronics department, Auditorium gallery, Auditorium conference hall and Main Auditorium. A highly qualified panel of judges from all departments of MUET finalized the winners for each segment.  The chief guest Engr. Syed Asif Hyder Shah along with Dean FEECE Dr. B. S Chowdhry visited all the segments and stalls. They appreciated the participants and organizers efforts, also motivated and suggested them for future endeavors.

In order to inspire and motivate the event participants and attendees, MrShoaib Ahmed Siddiqui was invited as a motivational speaker to uplift the morals of students. His keynote address thrilled the students and energized them to run even faster after their goals.

IEEE Day event also included segments like lucky draws and audience quizfor the audience to boost them up in the intervals. Furthermore, In order to pay tribute to MUET, a documentary was played in the closing ceremony that included some of the personalities of MUET who remarkably wrote their names in golden in the history, MUET milestones, Golden memories and upgradations of MUET and also an ethics video for grooming students up. All these things became the factor of all the guests admiring the event.

The event was wrapped up with DrTauha Hussain’sthought provoking address. Shields, Certificates and cash prizes were distribution to the winners,Best Volunteer, Organizers and Speaker.

Karachi Section Participation in PSYWC’2015

Remarkable Participation of IEEE Karachi Section in the PSYWC15 CIIT, Islamabad

The 9th episode of biggest national level IEEE event of Pakistan PSYWC’15 was this year held at CIIT, Islamabad organized by IEEE Islamabad Section and IEEE CIIT Student Branch on Oct 2 – 4, 2015.

The three-day event went superb. The wonderful congress was attended by a huge number of dedicated and energetic volunteers from across Pakistan. There were different motivational and inspirational sessions to encourage the volunteers and for their personal & professional development. The All Pakistan SAC meeting was also called at the occasion.

IEEE Karachi Section’s participation in the PSYWC15 remained very successful. Section funded partial grant to the 14 dedicated volunteers from different student branches of Karachi Section.

It was indeed a proud moment when three dedicated volunteers of IEEE Karachi Section received awards for their volunteer efforts and dedication towards IEEE activities. The awards are as follows:

  1. Hanan Daudpota (Isra University, Hyderabad) – Most Valuable Student Volunteer Award
  2. Muhammad Akmal (Hamdard University, Karachi) – Student Branch Leadership Award
  3. Ahsan Qamer (NED, Karachi) – Student Branch Leadership Award

IEEE Karachi Section officers including Engr. Parkash Lohana (Chairman, IEEE Karachi Section), Engr. Murtaza Hanif (SAC Chair) and Mr. Rabeet Sagri (Chairman IEEE Young Professionals) delivered great sessions at the congress.

Organization:

Zia has over 15 years of experience working in IT & Telecommunications. He started his career at Ericsson in 2000, joining the R&D department in Ericsson Germany as a Verification Engineer for IP Solutions (RPCN, URCN, MPBN etc.) and Packet Core I&V.  He then moved into the services organization as a Solution Integrator in Ericsson UAE (MUME) before moving to the GSDC in Sweden (EAB) where he worked as a Solution Architect focusing on the design and integration of IP/MPLS projects for various customers.

Since Oct 2013, Zia has been working as the Head of Competence Readiness for SDN & NFV. He is actively driving regional readiness activities for these cutting edge technologies with several activities including Workshops/Bootcamps, Certifications and Sales Excellence training
