Bio: Adnan is a multifaceted Technology Leader with unique blend of business and technical acumen. His comprehensive experience spans enterprise architecture, systems integration, solutions development, business continuity and strategy. He has also served as Sr. Architect at San Diego Gas & Electric, Sr. Business Consultant at Bea Systems & Principal Integration Consultant at Albertsons.
He holds a Master of Science (MS), Management Information Systems from South Dakota State University & MCS, Computer Science from Karachi University.

Summarized Report for five technical seminars

Setting the trace for other volunteer groups, IEEE Karachi Section (a non-profit, volunteer led group of engineers) made a huge impression this year among Industry, Academia and professionals by introducing “Technical Seminar Series for Professionals”. Having started from April 2015, the technical seminar series continued for back-to back 5 months and has achieved an enormous liking and admiration from professionals from all over the Karachi and the district Sindh.

IEEE Karachi Section in past have organized many such technical seminar workshops of single days. In the year 2014 it managed to organized only two, where as in year 2013 it organized about four, this year in 2015, only by August, 2015 it has achieved a milestone by organizing five back-to-back monthly seminars, where as the plans are to organize three more by the end of year.

In the wake up call for “Electrical safety and its requirements- ESR” among industry workers based not only at Karachi but in whole Pakistan, three of the five seminars were focused on this topic. The details of each seminar along with its topic name are as follows:

1st:  ESR- Part #1 – Introduction to Electrical Safety Measures

2nd: Human Error Preventions tool and practices at work

3RD: ESR- Part # 2 – Case studies and requirements

4th: Value proposition of Project Management for Engineering Projects

5th: ESR- Part # 3 – Arc Flash Analysis and Calculations

With each workshop, a feedback form is distributed, collected back and analyzed for making improvements in future seminars. There has been tremendous support and appreciation from some of the regular attendee senior engineers in Karachi Section technical seminar series. The technical seminar team is working to make self-record by hosting eight technical seminars which require three more to be organized by the end of year.

Karachi Section Participation R10 Congress 2015

In 2011, Auckland got the opportunity to unveil the calm serenity of the Southern hemisphere to IEEE Region 10. In 2013, it was Hyderabad who mesmerized the Region 10 with rich eloquent culture. In 2015, which nation will embrace the IEEE Region 10 Student|Young Professionals|WIE Congress as the hosts? SRI LANKA! Yes, you read it correct, it is going to be Sri Lanka this year.

Key events of the congress:

  • Workshops, Learning Labs & Panel Discussions – To share knowledge on latest inclusions to IEEE, get familiar with existing tools and services and share experiences with fellow IEEE members.
  • Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony – Provides ample opportunity for participants to network and share thoughts.

Together with dinner, the award ceremony will take place to recognize and reward achievements of IEEE members obtained during the past two years.

  • Cultural Night – This will be staged for participants to showcase the culture and traditions of their countries. Each country will display their exhibits and cultural performances to others.

 

Mr Ahsan Saeed Received the IEEE MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award at IEEE Region 10 Student/YP/WIE Congress 2015, Srilanka for exemplary contributions to IEEE Young Professionalsin Region 10 and for continuous support to the IEEE Academic project.

Five person delegates from Karachi Section got an opportunity to attend this event. In which three were Excom members and three were students who were selected after closely looking into their profiles and their work .

He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Arizona.

Fourth Technical Seminar: Engineering Project Management By Karachi Section

IEEE Karachi Section organizes Engineering Project Management Seminar at Sunset Club

The IEEE Karachi Section organized and conducted a fourth seminar on ‘Value Proposition of Project Management for Engineering Projects’ on July 30, 2015, at DA Sunset Club. The speaker, Aslam Mirza, a renowned project management professional, who practices Project Management for Organizational Transformation, and development of PM Culture to help enhancement of Organizational competence for advancement in strategic direction and effective governance and control. The seminar began with a message from Chairman of IEEE Karachi Section, Engr. Parkash Lohana, after which Mr. Mirza took over with the technical presentation. The seminar covered the foundations for PM Culture, PM Culture Constituents, Maximizing factors, and Ways to Sustain Organizational Culture. The 90 minute session was followed by a 10 minute Q&A session, after which tea was served to the 52 participants.
