Abstract: The physical concepts of metamaterials have revolutionarily reshaped electromagnetic research from microwave, terahertz to optics since later 1990s. In particular, the metamaterial based concepts have spurred the development of innovative antenna technology to meet the fast increasing demands in the market of wireless communications and radars. This talk will introduce one of metamaterial-based concepts, metaline a non-transmission-line type antenna. Then the technology and applications of metalines in antennas, in particular for UHF RFID near-field systems and WiFi access points will be introduced with success designs.
