Technical Seminar: Time-domain Metasurface and Its Potential Applications in Wireless Communications

Prof. Qiang CHENG
Radio Department, Southeast University, Nanjing, China
Abstract: The metasurface offers new possibilities for amplitude, phase and frequency modulation of incident waves, which opens a new avenue of information modulation without the need of conventional analog or digital circuits. First, the time domain metasurface was proposed and investigated. By tuning the active diodes of the meta-atoms, the reflection properties of the metasurface can be engineered within different time slots, enabling a direct modulation from the baseband digital signal to the carrier waves. Then, recent progress on harmonic manipulation with the proposed novel metasurface were introduced.
