Meet the Speakers

Professor Carlos A. Coello Coello,  (Fellow, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, USA, in 1996.,He is currently a Professor with Distinction (CINVESTAV-3F Researcher), Computer Science Department, CINVESTAV-IPN, Mexico City, Mexico. He has authored and coauthored over 450 technical papers and book chapters. He has also coauthored the book Evolutionary Algorithms for Solving Multiobjective Problems (2nd ed., Springer, 2007). His publications currently report over 44 800 citations in Google Scholar (his H-index is 83). His major research interests are evolutionary multiobjective optimization and constraint-handling techniques for evolutionary algorithms.,Prof. Coello Coello received the 2007 National Research Award from the Mexican Academy of Sciences in the area of Exact Sciences, the Medal to the Scientific Merit 2009, granted by Mexico City’s congress, and the National Medal of Science and Arts in the area of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences. He is currently an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation and serves in the editorial board of several other international journals. He is a member of ACM, Sigma Xi, and the Mexican Academy of Science.

Professor Qing Li, is currently a Chair Professor (Data Science) and the Head of the Department of Computing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Formerly, he was the founding Director of the Multimedia software Engineering Research Centre (MERC), and a Professor at City University of Hong Kong where he worked in the Department of Computer Science from 1998 to 2018. Prior to these, he has also taught at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Australian National University (Canberra, Australia). Prof. Li served as a consultant to Microsoft Research Asia (Beijing, China), Motorola Global Computing and Telecommunications Division (Tianjin Regional Operations Center), and the Division of Information Technology, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Australia. He has been an Adjunct Professor of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the Wuhan University, and a Guest Professor of the Hunan University (Changsha, China) where he got his BEng. degree from the Department of Computer Science in 1982. He is also a Guest Professor (Software Technology) of the Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China) — the leading university of the Zhejiang province where he was born.

Professor Jiannong Cao, (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in computer science from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, in 1982, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Washington State University, Pullman, WA, USA, in 1986 and 1990, respectively. From 2011 to 2017, he served the Department Head. He is currently the Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Professor in data science and the Chair Professor of distributed and mobile computing with the Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong. He is also the Dean of the Graduate School, the Director of the Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Things, PolyU, and the Director of the Internet and Mobile Computing Laboratory. He was the Founding Director and is currently the Associate Director of PolyU’s University Research Facility in Big Data Analytics. His research interests include distributed systems and blockchain, wireless sensing and networking, big data and machine learning, and mobile cloud and edge computing. He is a member of Academia Europaea, a fellow of the China Computer Federation (CCF), and an ACM Distinguished Member.

Professor Hisao Ishibuchi, (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, in 1985 and 1987, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Osaka Prefecture University, Sakai, Japan, in 1992.,From 1987 to 2017, he was with Osaka Prefecture University. Since 2017, he has been the Chair Professor with the Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China.,Dr. Ishibuchi was the IEEE CIS Vice-President for Technical Activities from 2010 to 2013 and the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine from 2014 to 2019. He is currently an IEEE CIS AdCom Member and an IEEE CIS Distinguished Lecturer.
