Topic: What does a urologist do?

Speaker: Yuuki Kyohda, Assistant Professor, Sapporo Medical University, Japan

Abstract:

Hospitals comprise several departments, including but not limited to internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, and others. As a medical professional, I specialize in urology, which primarily involves diagnosing and treating conditions related to the urinary system, such as infections and cancers. While sexually transmitted diseases can sometimes be within the scope of practice, it is not the primary area of focus. In this talk, I will provide an overview of urology, an often-overlooked specialty in the medical field. Additionally, I will discuss ongoing collaborative research between myself and Professors Mianxiong Dong and Kaoru Ota from Muroran Institute of Technology. This research combines medical and engineering knowledge to advance our understanding and treatment of urological disorders.
