Topic: Research Progress for Future Internet Architecture

Speaker: Prof. Ruidong Li, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)

Abstract:

At 1960s, Internet emerged as the file sharing tool connecting with 4 computers, and now it becomes a network covering everywhere on the earth. How to enable the communications among the devices in the Internet? What will the Internet evolve in the future under the era of big data and Internet of things? What are the research efforts towards a network of the future? To answer those questions to some extent, this lecture will introduce the history of Internet, Internet components, the research progress for Internet architecture, the research lineage of information-centric network(ICN), and the recent researches on “blockchain meets ICN”.

Biography:

Ruidong Li is a senior researcher at the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Japan. He received the  M.Sc. degree and Ph.D.degree in computer science from the University of Tsukuba in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He serves as the Secretary of IEEE ComSoc Internet Technical Committee (ITC), and is the founder and chair of IEEE SIG on Big Data Intelligent Networking and IEEE SIG on Intelligent Internet Edge, and the co-chair of young research group for Aisa future internet forum.
