Topic: Toward Academic Excellence

Speaker:Prof. Kazuya Sakai, Tokyo Metropolitan University

Abstract:

A researcher is one of the most exciting job among all the engineering jobs. In this talk, I will provide several topics toward a professional career and illuminate the path to an academic professor and/or research scientist. To be specific, I will first talk about how to be a successful researcher including what is research and how to publish high quality papers. Second, I like to share my experience in the graduate program in the United States, where I learned most of things about not only research but also life. Finally, I will talk about how you prepare your professional career. I hope that this lecture eases the path into your academic excellence.

Biography:

Dr. Kazuya Sakai received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2013. He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Tokyo Metropolitan University. His research interests are in the area of information and network security, wireless and mobile computing, and distributed algorithms. He received the IEEE Computer Society Japan Chapter Young Author Award 2016. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM.
