# LATex workshop

## October 26, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

LaTeX is a typesetting program that is used primarily by mathematicians and other academics to help us typeset mathematical notation easily and legibly and using markup-tagging conventions, writers can style the text throughout a document by defining the general structure of the document. This workshop could be of interest to students who want to learn about LaTeX templates to create impressive documents for their master’s or Ph.D. thesis. Furthermore, academics, students, and researchers seeking to create professional-looking documents, papers, presentations, and posters may benefit from this workshop. The main goal of this talk is to get beginners to the place where they can produce basic documents with the use of LaTeX, so we will intentionally be leaving aside some of the more technical options that might be too much for those who are just starting off. As part of our workshop, we will be giving a comprehensive overview of the documentation, including document spacing and formatting guidelines and how to cite other papers and write a bibliography. In addition, we learn how to include figures, plots, and tables in LaTeX documents. The workshop will continue with a discussion of how to handle LaTeX errors. To conclude, we will use LaTeX to compose our first document. What will you discover? – How to create a document in LaTeX – Document spacing and formatting principles – How to cite other papers and build a bibliography – How to include figures, plots, and tables in a LaTeX document – How to include and reference mathematics and algorithms in LaTeX – Handling LaTeX Errors Who should attend this workshop? – Students are interested in learning about Latex templates to create impressive documents for their master’s or Ph.D. thesis. – Academics, students, and researchers looking to create professional-looking documents, papers, presentations, and posters. – Anyone who had heard about LaTeX but has avoided learning about it Speaker(s): Aynour Khosravi , Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/325306
