An exciting and informative event titled “Energizing Pakistan through PES YP” was organized at Hamdard University Karachi Pakistan on 6-7 Nov 2023 in hybrid mode. The event was funded by IEEE Young Professionals (YP) Power & Energy Society (PES) under PES YP Ignition Fund and was jointly organized by PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section, IEEE HIET Student Branch, IEEE HIET WIE AG and IEEE MUET PES Student Chapter. A hands on workshop titled “Design and Analysis of Transmission Systems Using MATLAB” was conducted by Engr. Adeel Khan (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) and Engr. Halar Mustafa on 6th Nov 2023 and was attended by number of students. On 7th Nov 2023, talks were delivered by experienced industry professionals and other IEEE professional members from academia. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mahesh Kumar (Academic Coordinator PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section and Associate Professor, Mehran University Jamshoro). PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section was introduced to the audience by Engr. Ishtiaq Ul Haq (Chair, PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section). Mr. Albin Paul (Chair IEEE YP PES) participated the event through online mode and explained the importance of PES YP. Later on, Mr. Shahab Raza Raja (Managing Partner, AEI Teknoloji) guided the audience about “Electric vehicle opportunities in Pakistan”. “Latest trends in renewable energy sector” were shared by Engr. Imran Zafar (Secretary PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section and Director & Country Manager, Enercon Systems International (Pvt.) Ltd). Engr. Tahir Saleem (CEO United Engineering Services and Member Executive Committee, PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section) guided the youth on “Essential requirement for an Engineer in Industry”. Dr. Asad Ali Zaidi (Chairman Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hamdard University Karachi) talked about “Biogas Technology in Pakistan - Scope and Challenges”. Cloud Computing which is a very important topic for all technology related professions these days, were explained by Mr. Iqbal Uddin Khan (Assistant Professor, Department of Computing, Hamdard University Karachi). Vice Chair PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section (Dr. M. Ibrar Ul Haque) talked about “Role of IEEE and PES in professional development”. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Faisal Khan (Treasurer PES Chapter IEEE Karachi Section). He thanked all the speakers, guests and students for participating in the event. He also acknowledged the efforts of IEEE student volunteers of IEEE HIET SB, IEEE HIET WIE AG, IEEE MUET PES Student Chapter and IEEE YP Karachi Section for their support.
