The IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, successfully organized an insightful expert talk on “AI Inside Out: Hardware Realization and Optimization of Deep Neural Network” delivered by Dr. Pradipta Roy on 12th June 2026.
Talk Abstract
In this talk, the different hardware platforms for AI implementation like FPGA, GPU and CPU were explored. Optimization strategies for efficient implementation were discussed along with the latest trends in hardware. Hardware acceleration is an important aspect of AI & ML implementation. Different Convolution implementations, memory optimization strategies, parallel and pipelined operations were discussed. A case study on hardware realization of Human Activity Recognition was presented. Also, the future trends, challenges and direction in hardware realization of deep neural network were discussed.
About the Speaker
Dr. Pradipta Roy received his B.Tech from Jadavpur University and his M.Tech and Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur in Electronics Engineering. He is presently working as Scientist F in Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. He has published more than 30 papers in reputed International Journals and Conferences. He is also a reviewer of three IEEE Transactions and Journals. He has organized national and international conferences as Technical Chair. His research interests are Computer Vision, VLSI architecture, Machine and Deep Learning, etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has received the Young Scientist award from the then President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
