IEEE Computer Society Bhubaneswar Section Conducts First Student Branch Chapter Meetup

Bhubaneswar, 26 May 2026 — The IEEE Computer Society, Bhubaneswar Section successfully organized its first virtual Student Branch Chapter (SBC) Meetup on 26th May 2026 at 7:00 PM IST via Google Meet.

The meeting was efficiently managed by Dr. Amiya Ranjan Panda, Secretary, IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section. It brought together Hare Krishna Ratha, Advisor to IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and Chair, IEEE CS Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, along with Dr. Sujata Chakravarthy, Vice-Chair (Student Activities), IEEE CS Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section. All advisors and student office bearers from the seven (7) CS Student Branch Chapters under the Bhubaneswar Section actively participated.

Key Highlights:

  • Welcome & Introductions: The session began with a warm welcome address by the Chair, followed by introductions of all Student Branch Chapter office bearers and their respective advisors.
  • Interaction & Networking: It provided an excellent platform for the leadership to get acquainted with the student teams and understand their ongoing activities.
  • Review & Future Roadmap: Discussions covered the review of current SBC activities, future collaboration plans, and upcoming IEEE CS programs and initiatives.
  • Advisor’s Perspective: Valuable insights were shared by the advisors, encouraging students to actively drive technical initiatives and professional development activities.
  • Open Discussion: An engaging open forum allowed participants to share ideas and feedback.

Hare Krishna Ratha addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of student-driven activities and stronger collaboration between the professional CS Chapter and the Student Branches. He expressed satisfaction at the enthusiastic participation and highlighted the meetup as a foundational step toward building a more vibrant and connected IEEE CS community in the region.

Dr. Sujata Chakravarthy also interacted with the student office bearers, motivating them to take proactive roles in organizing technical events, workshops, and outreach programs.

This inaugural meetup marks a significant step in strengthening the bond between the IEEE CS Bhubaneswar Section leadership and its student community. The Section looks forward to more such collaborative initiatives in the coming months.
