7th IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter Inaugurated at Centurion University of Technology and Management, Paralakhemundi
Paralakhemundi, Odisha | 10 April 2026 – The IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter at the School of Engineering and Technology, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Paralakhemundi was formally inaugurated today, becoming the 7th IEEE CS Student Branch Chapter (SBC) under the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by senior leaders from the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section — Shri H.K. Ratha, Advisor, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and Chair, IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, Prof. (Dr.) Subhranshu Ranjan Samantaray, Chair, and Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Vice Chair of IEEE Bhubaneswar Section. From CUTM, Prof Jagannath Padhi, Director, CIT, Prof Anita Patra, Registrar and Prof Prafulla Kumar Panda, DEAN, SoET graced the occasion. The event also witnessed the official inauguration of the IEEE Conference (SCOPES-2027) and the IEEE CS Student Branch Chapter website.
In his address, Shri H.K. Ratha congratulated the Centurion University team for this important milestone and highlighted how the new chapter will serve as a powerful platform for students to innovate, collaborate, and excel in computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and emerging technologies. He urged the students to make the chapter one of the most active in IEEE Region 10 and assured full support from the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and the Computer Society Chapter.
On behalf of the IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, we warmly welcome the newly elected office bearers of the IEEE CS SBC at CUTM Paralakhemundi and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
We place on record our deep appreciation to Dr. Debendra Kumar Sahoo and Dr. Prabhat Kumar Patnaik, HOD, Department of ECE, for their tireless efforts in establishing this chapter. Special thanks are also extended to the CUTM management for forming two IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters — one each at the Bhubaneswar and Paralakhemundi campuses — in a remarkably short time.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a vibrant technical ecosystem at Centurion University and strengthens the IEEE footprint in Odisha.
