The IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section successfully organized a virtual technical talk on 20 March 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM IST.
The distinguished speaker was Dr. Anjali Diwan, Associate Professor in Computer Engineering–AI at Marwadi University, Rajkot, and a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE). Dr. Diwan delivered an insightful talk titled “Beyond Detection: Using Agentic AI to Combat Deepfakes”.
In her presentation, Dr. Diwan addressed the growing threat of deepfakes to digital trust, misinformation control, and cybersecurity. She highlighted limitations of traditional detection-focused approaches amid rapidly evolving generation techniques and advocated for Agentic AI as a more proactive solution. These autonomous, adaptive AI systems enable continuous learning, coordinated multi-module analysis, pattern recognition, source tracing, and real-time mitigation. The talk covered emerging frameworks, integration of multimedia forensics and contextual analysis, key challenges, research opportunities, and the broader role of such intelligent systems in upholding digital media integrity, enhancing cyber defense, and preserving public trust in an AI-driven world.
