IEEE Computer Society Bhubaneswar Chapter Organizes Technical Talk on Deep Learning for Healthcare and Industry 4.0

Bhubaneswar, 13 March 2026 – The IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar successfully hosted an insightful technical talk by Dr. Celia Shahnaz on 13th March 2026 (1900–2000 hrs).

Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), delivered an engaging presentation on “Deep Learning for Healthcare and Industry 4.0 Applications”.

In her talk, Dr. Shahnaz highlighted how deep learning has emerged as a transformative paradigm driving innovation across diverse domains. In healthcare, advanced neural architectures enable automated medical imaging analysis, predictive diagnostics, drug discovery, and personalized treatment planning — thereby improving accuracy, efficiency, and patient outcomes. In parallel, Industry 4.0 leverages deep learning to enhance smart manufacturing, predictive maintenance, supply chain optimization, and human–machine collaboration, fostering resilient and adaptive industrial ecosystems.

The event was coordinated smoothly by Dr. Amiya Ranjan Panda, Secretary, IEEE CS Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section and Dr. Sricheta Parui. Er. Hare Krishna Ratha, Advisor, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and Chair, IEEE CS Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section actively participated in the event.

More than 45 IEEE professional members and students attended the highly interactive session, which proved extremely encouraging for the student participants.

About the Speaker Dr. Celia Shahnaz, SMIEEE, Fellow IEB, and Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), received her Ph.D. from Concordia University, Canada. She is a Professor at BUET since 2015 and has been elected/appointed to numerous prestigious IEEE positions, including:

  • 2025–27 IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor
  • 2025–26 Chair, IEEE WIE Nominations and Appointments
  • Past Chair, IEEE WIE Committee (2023–2024)
  • Member of multiple IEEE committees (TAB Awards, Fourier Award, History Committee, etc.)

She is the recipient of several accolades, including the 2021 IEEE MGA Achievement Award, Bangladesh Academy of Science Gold Medal, and many others. With over 25 years of experience in technical, educational, and humanitarian projects, Dr. Shahnaz is a leading figure in IEEE and engineering education.
