Bhubaneswar, Odisha – December 05, 2025 – The IEEE Computer Society (CS) Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, successfully organized a compelling technical talk titled “Energy Efficiency in Wireless Networks” today, drawing keen interest from the local IEEE community. Delivered by the esteemed Dr. Niranjan Kumar Ray, Associate Professor at KIIT Deemed to be University, the session underscored the pivotal role of sustainable design in advancing modern wireless technologies amid the surge of mobile devices, IoT applications, and data-intensive services.

Event Highlights

The talk delved into innovative strategies for enhancing energy efficiency across wireless network layers, including adaptive transmission techniques, energy-aware routing, and resource optimization in heterogeneous environments. Dr. Ray placed special emphasis on green communication paradigms, cooperative networking, and intelligent algorithms that harmonize energy conservation with unwavering quality of service. The event was expertly managed by Dr. Amiya Ranjan Panda, Secretary of the IEEE CS Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, and seamlessly coordinated by Rhea Bachheti, Chair of the IEEE CS Student Branch Chapter (SBC) at XIM University. Er Hare Krishna Ratha, Chair of the IEEE CS Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, also graced the occasion with his presence, enriching the proceedings with his insights.

About the Speaker

Dr. Niranjan Kumar Ray is a distinguished academic and researcher in the School of Computer Engineering at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, India. Holding a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, he has carved a niche in wireless sensor networks, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), fog and edge computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). With over 80 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious outlets like IEEE Transactions and Magazines, alongside three edited books with international publishers and four patents, Dr. Ray exemplifies excellence in both theoretical and applied research. His contributions extend to professional service, earning him the IEEE Outstanding Service Award in 2022 from the IEEE Computer Society’s Bio-inspired Computing Technical Committee. Dr. Ray also serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine and Section Editor of SN Computer Science.
