Bhubaneswar, 28 November 2025 – The IEEE Computer Society Chapter of IEEE Bhubaneswar Section successfully conducted an insightful technical talk on the emerging paradigm of Data-Centric AI on 28th November 2025.

Eminent speaker Dr. Shruti Mishra, Associate Professor, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Chennai Campus, delivered a highly engaging session titled “Data-Centric AI: Why High-Quality Data Matters More Than Complex Models”. Dr. Mishra highlighted the ongoing shift from model-centric to data-centric AI, demonstrating with practical examples how systematic improvements in data quality, consistent labeling, bias mitigation, and better representation often outperform the mere addition of model complexity.

With extensive research contributions in machine learning, deep learning, health informatics, bioinformatics, predictive analytics, and medical imaging, and publications indexed in Scopus, IEEE Xplore, and Google Scholar, Dr. Mishra’s talk was enriched with real-world case studies that resonated deeply with the audience.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, research scholars, and a large number of IEEE student members from various institutions across Odisha. The interactive Q&A session reflected the strong interest and curiosity sparked among the young attendees.

The program was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Amiya Ranjan Panda, Secretary, IEEE Computer Society Chapter, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section. Mr. Hare Krishna Ratha, Advisor, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and Chair, IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, also participated in the event.
