The first event of the day to undergo was Interactive Session I titled The Conquest. In this session, the delegates were randomly formed into 6 groups and were presented with a fictional situation in which they played the role of a number of scientists who travelled back in time accidentally and were given the opportunity to rewrite the history of science and technology. The teams were asked a few questions on how they plan to promote science. One of the team members, nominated as the King, conveyed the idea of the group by discussing with his/her team-mates. Later each king also defended their plan by using logic, examples and by pointing out flaws in the plan of other teams. The discussions were very thoughtful and lively – each team put their highest effort to establish their idea. Dr Shaikh Anwarul Fattah and Dr Celia Shahnaz were the official judges of the event. The session was conducted by Mr. Upal Mahbub, Students activities chair of IEEE Bangladesh section.
