INMIC 2020 as a virtual event

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IEEE INMIC 2020 has been moved to a fully virtual conference. As an online virtual conference, all presentations will be pre-recorded by the presenter and uploaded to a designated repository. Further instructions will follow regarding author responsibilities during the conference dates.
As a basis for the on-demand programming, we request you prepare and upload a video of your presentation, consisting of a brief introduction with webcam, if desired, followed by voice over slides for your presentation. This will be considered as a replacement of your attendance at the conference, and is a requirement for your paper to remain in IEEE Xplore. This media will be posted within your presentation time slot on the IEEE INMIC 2020 on-demand virtual platform. Please note that the file must be a video file in MP4 format (more details below).
Please note: all video submissions are due on Thursday, October 22. However, we invite you to submit as soon as possible – the sooner you upload your presentation, the longer we have to review your submission for technical issues. As a reminder, videos not received by the deadline will be considered no-shows in accordance with the non-presented paper policy.
•       Keynote Talks are scheduled for 40 minutes (including 5 minutes of Q&A)
•       Regular (author) Talks are scheduled for 15 minutes (including 5 minutes of Q&A). Upload deadline Thursday, October 22.

Tips for Recording:
•       Use as quiet an area as possible
•       Avoid areas (e.g., large rooms) that have echo
•       Good microphone (or headset with microphone) close to mouth BUT away from direct line of mouth to reduce “pops”.  Avoid using default built-in microphone on computer.
•       Do a test recording of a couple of minutes and review the sound and picture quality in MP4 format, and the file size before recording the entire presentation.  Make adjustments if needed.
Recording your Video
Authors are requested to prepare and upload a video of their presentation, comprised of a brief introduction with webcam, if desired, followed by voice over slides. The file must be a video file in MP4 format (more details below). The author face shot is compulsory for first 30 seconds and last 30 seconds to make sure that actual authors are presenting their work.
Our recommended approach to record a compatible video from content displayed on your computer screen and voice recorded via the computer microphone, is to record the presentation using Zoom, available to users on most platforms and in most countries.
Videos should contain a prominent view of the presentation slides along with audio of the spoken presentation. The videos may contain a shot of the speaker’s head for increased engagement. (This shot should be thumbnail-sized and overplayed on the slide images as shown here.) Many presentation software allows recording audio and video directly in the application and can export appropriate video files. Please see the notes below for detailed instructions for PowerPoint and Keynote. If you use a different application, please see the notes under Other Options. Here are some links to instructions on recording a meeting on common platforms:
•

PowerPoint

  1. Follow these instructions to add audio (and optionally video) to your slides.
  2. Follow these instructions to generate a MPEG-4 (.mp4) file from your slides and audio/video.
  3. Alternatively, you can follow this video tutorial which goes through both of these steps. Also, see this video tutorial if you like.

Other Options

  1. Record your screen (and microphone) while giving the presentation. There are effective and free options to do this on LinuxmacOS, and Windows.
  2. As a last resort, and only if you are comfortable directly editing video, you can export your slides as images, record an audio track, and combine the two using software like kdenliveiMovie, or others.
  3. Submitting your Video
  4. •    Please note: all video submissions are due on Thursday, October 22. As a reminder, videos not received by the deadline will be considered no-shows in accordance with the non-presented paper policy. The author’s availability is also compulsory during Q & A session otherwise the presenter/author will be marked absent.
  5. 1.      Sign in to your Gmail account and upload your recoded video to Google Drive.
  6. 2.      Your video title should be in the following format: PaperID_PRESENTER-NAME. For Example: 140_ Muhammad Arshad.
  7. 3.      The editable link of uploaded video should be sent to: [email protected]
